So, here goes the story of why I blog! When I first got a laptop computer, I was trying to figure out unique ways to use it, and blogging was unique to me at the time. I hadn’t read many blogs before. So it was a whole new kind of thing to me. I knew from the start that I wanted to blog about cooking and sewing, because those are the two things I mainly do aside from school and sports. And, for any of you still wondering what a “gastronome” (one of my 7th grade vocabulary words =) is, it’s a connoisseur of good food. I used it as part of my blog title to confuse baffle all of you with my impeccable vocabulary ;)
7 things about me:
1. I listen to Audrey Assad non-stop
2. I LOVE geometry (which is why I made my first quilt)
3. I can play Canon in D on the piano
4. The first recipe my sister and I made up was called Louis’s Beefy Garlic Bake (a pizza named after our dog).
5. I have another blog called Hard-backed, but I haven’t updated it for months. So if you look at it, don’t expect much!
6. If you looked at my other blog, you can tell that I’ve read The Count of Monte Cristo. Well, I’m reading it again now. It has over a thousand pages.
7. Possibly my favorite Bible verse is Hebrews 10:23, which says “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess for He who promised is faithful.”

My sister has read the Count of Monte Cristo as well and adored it. She keeps a running list of classics. :) Do you read other classics too?
Yes, classics are actually about all I read. But somehow this one’s still my favorite!
I have to admit I’ve never read it. . .I tried The Three Musketeers (my sister and did a switch-off where I made her read the Hunger Games and she made me read the three musketeers). . .it was interesting but sort of stuffy. I don’t know. Maybe if I got into it. . .
I definitely recommend the Count of Monte Cristo! I’ve never read the Three Musketeers, but it would be realllllly hard to beat the Count of Monte Cristo. It has an amazing story line, where all these seemingly loose ends tie together eventually. I’ve actually never read the Hunger Games… I guess I REALLY must be a classics girl =D
That’s pretty much exactly what my sister says. . .I may just have to break down and try it sometime. :) I know I’m gonna sound like a fangirl here, but the Hunger Games really are amazing. My research paper this past year in english compared it and 1984. It was a lot of fun; there are a lot of ideas you can dig into. Have you ever read 1984?
I saw the Hunger Games movie, but I just haven’t read it. I have never read 1984… I honestly don’t even know what it’s about =D Sounds like a fun book report- comparing two different books!
The movie totally doesn’t do justice to the books. 1984 is actually kind of a political book, but it’s interesting. It’s basically about what happens if the government controls every single aspect of society. It was fun — there were so many similarities.
